Important Dates to Know

  • October 16
    Last day to register tovote for the upcoming General Election

  • October 30
    Absentee ballot applications by mail

  • November 5
    Deadline for civilian absentee ballot application in person
    (On any day up to 3:00 p.m. on the day before the election)

  • November 6
    General Election Day

 

Registering to Vote

A citizen may register in person at the Atlantic County Commissioner of Registration or any Municipal Clerk's office any day during office hours or on selected evenings prior to the close of registration. A citizen may also register to vote at Motor Vehicle Agency and all Social Service Agencies.

Registering by mail
A citizen may register to vote by mail. Mail registration forms, available in Spanish as well as English, may be obtained by writing or telephoning the Commissioner of Registration at 343-2246 or 645-5882.

The Commissioners of Registration cannot accept faxed copies or an electronic transmission of a voter registration form since an original signature is required.This form can also be used for name and address changes.

To register in New Jersey you must be:

  • you are a United States citizen,
  • you will be 18 years old by the next election,
  • you will be a resident of the county for 30 days before the election.

You are not eligible to register to vote if you are serving a sentence or on parole or probation, as a result of a conviction of an indictable offense under state or federal law or have been adjudged mentally incompetent.
